Tillandsia stricta

Like most air plants, Tillandsia stricta is native to South America and certain Caribbean islands. Although it can be found in a wide variety of habitats, T. stricta is capable of thriving in extremely dry, sandy conditions where other air plants would wither and die.

Requiring little care, T. stricta is commonly found in cultivation. Its bright blue flowers last for only a single day, however the colorful pink inflorescence remains for several months.

This highly-detailed illustration was created by M. Hart for the English botanical magazine Edwards's Botanical Register.
