Passiflora quadrangularis is the largest species of Passiflora in the world, producing huge fragrant flowers and fruit the size of papayas. It is native to Central and South America (where it is known as the "giant granadilla") but is now grown in tropical climates and greenhouses throughout the world.
This print was published in an 1845 issue of Flore de Serres et des Jardins de l'Europe and illustrated by the Dutch artist Louis van Houtte (also see our prints of Nepenthes veitchii and Sarracenia leucophylla).
